This is my first take on a peplos. Due to high demand, I created one. The only problem is that I just went downstairs into my sewing room and whipped something up, with a vague remembrance of what the peplos looked like. So here is what it should have been:

I think my creation looked more like the top of this image of a peplos.
And this is what I created:
It was a little short, so I wore leggings with it.
The shoulders are held together with three brass buttons.
- I would like to think these punched metal earrings have a bit of a Roman influence too.
Conclusion: I probably did not have enough fabric to create the length, folds and gathers, but I think I would call this a moderate success.

I’m impressed!! I love that you kept the color and fabric reminiscent of what may have been donned in ye olde roman times.
The draping is beautiful. Now that you’ve done it once, I bet you could make a full-length one.

The peplos is greek, not roman.
Hi,
Yes, the peplos does have Greek roots, but it was also worn by the Romans. The Greeks also donned the Chiton.
