Chelsie Daily Style – Catching a Wave

It must be fall, because the wind is picking up in the evenings and the leaves are blowing everywhere! We went to the (rock) beach after work and the waves were BIG. We even saw two guys wearing wet suits taking their surf boards out. I didn’t spy them hitting any waves. They stayed pretty close to the shore. Maybe they don’t know how to surf?

  • Dress – H&M
  • Belt – Thrifted
  • Boots – Consignment
  • Tights – Zellers

The wave started chasing after me, so I had to run. Not so easy on the rocks, with the boot heel, while the white water is roaring.

I think I also had an awesome hair day because everyone mentioned it. And not in a, you-have-a-dead-leaf-stuck-in-your-hair kind of way.

  1. I think these are my favorite pictures of you yet. Is the dress red, or dark orange? Either way, it’s pretty.

  2. I wish there was a closer shot of the dress. Couldn’t make out much in these photos. But I read the blogs on my Droid phone.

  3. These are stunning photos! And the dress seems perfect for you.
Yeah, it’s definitely fall here too, leaves are falling and temperatures are really low (last night we had zero degrees Celsius). Not even mentioning the fog that can last until noon :/

  4. These are such beautiful pictures, Chelsie!! I adore the color of the dress!

  5. Eeeee such pretty pictures! It feels like a mini-vacation in my RSS reader.

  6. Great outfit! Dresses suit you. I have a hard time finding dresses that fit. Do you?

    • I find dresses easier to find because I don’t have to hem them. Although length can be an issue. And shoulders. I have broad shoulders. My only BIG problem is wearing dresses, as I much prefer the freedom of ye old dress pants. I am currently wearing dress pants I MacGyvered hemmed with masking tape this morning, so I’m nothing but classy!

      • I agree with Chelsie – dresses are easier. Not because I have to hem them, but because there’s so much more wiggle room in length than with pants. I think it’s funny that you find freedom in dress pants – that’s the one article of clothing I dislike the most. Well, maybe less than hair shirts, but not by much.

Do you ever use Stitch Witchery for hem MacGyvering?

    • Very much so, and not just dresses. It is a continuous mystery to me why, as someone who doesn’t have a terribly unusually shaped body, I have such a hard time finding clothes that fit properly. I’m just tall enough that lengths are a smidge too short, I’ve got flesh in places where ready to wear clothes tend not to have enough fabric, and I’m a variety of sizes (and so dresses that fit are often just as hard to find as pants). It’s absolutely maddening, and really doesn’t help the whole “I’ve gained twenty pounds or so in the past year and a bit” thing.

      • Commercial sizing IS mysterious! One more reason to sew?

I have fairly sizable thighs, so finding pants (or slim skirts) is tricky. I like wide-legged dress pants when I can find them. Full skirts are comfy AND fit-friendly. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE dresses, but can almost never find any that suit my style AND my legs. I’d like to find some knee-length, work-appropriate dresses, but it may be too much to hope for.
