Tunes Tuesday – Winter Songs

Millie suggested a Winter Songs theme for this week’s music, and it seems a grand idea. We’ve got less than a month of holiday music to go, and there’ll be some of that here as December goes on, I’ve no doubt, but for now here are some songs that Katie and Millie associate with winter, even if they don’t mention Frosty.

Sarah McLachlan – “Song for a Winter’s Night”

Mozart – “Dies Irae” – Millie and Katie performed Mozart’s Requiem one winter night (with Chelsie and Sarah in the audience) and it was pretty damn magical.

Bjork – “It’s Oh So Quiet”

Kate & Anna McGarrigle – “Complainte pour St. Catharine” – Millie says it’s about Montreal in the middle of winter, when you hide in the Metro to stay warm. If she says so…

Maria McKee – “Wayfarin’ Stranger”

  1. These are awesome! My winter songs (or at least the recent ones) are Bon Iver: Flume, Feelt Foxes: White Winter Hymnal, and Morning Benders: Excuses.
