I went into the big city today to meet with some old colleagues, so I decided to try and create a psued0-suit (suito?) out of jeans and velvet Gap blazer I thrifted this weekend. The cut of the blazer is more “swing” than I normally wear, given my ample bosom and short waist, but I liked it so much I threw caution to the wind and $1.38 on the counter and it was mine.
You may have noticed the stylish accessory of Band-Aids and medical tape I’m sporting on my left pointer finger. As much as I’d like to brag that it’s a war wound from wrestling with a Gila monster, or that I got a papercut while examining an original copy of the Constitution hidden in someone’s attic, the truth is far less exciting: vegetables are to blame.
I cut my finger while chopping spinach the other day. R.I.P. fingernail.*
Obviously this is the universe’s way of telling me to stop with the whole vegetable thing and just eat ice cream for dinner. I don’t know about you, but I’m not about to argue with the most infinite thing in existence. A Milky Way ice cream bar for dinner it is!
However, now I know exactly what The Arrogant Worms were talking about. This was simply the produce exacting its revenge.
How low as people do we dare to stoop,
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup?
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Let potted plants free, don’t mash that potato!Eat a cow, they’re so dumb!
*FYI, this is why I haven’t been verbose in my comments for a while. The typing, it hurts.

Oh, sorry about your finger. Don’t give up on the vegetables though – that’s their evil plan. I really like this outfit, especially the red shoes and that fantastic bracelet.
Vegetables are masters of the art of scaremongering, sabotage and propaganda, to twist the facts and try and lead you astray: especially to lead you towards beef… Don’t fall for it, it’s a red herring ( well, kind of…). Don’t believe them or their tactics. The finger was a foot, nay hand soldier in the battle. It shall live to fight another day. Nurse it back to health and do battle with vegetables (alas the sad truth that you need to hear is that ice-cream is a sloppy ally who runs away when the situation heats up).
So veggies routed, let’s turn to fashion… especially those cool earings… wow!
Well done, I’m liking this look on you… a lot!
Lady, you CRACK ME UP!
Oh Arrogant Worms! You look great here! I like the shape of the blazer with the skinny jeans, keeps things interesting! And that bracelet looks like something unearthed out of a viking settlement! Brilliant!
Great outfit – I tend to avoid swingy things too, due to the same issues with ample bosom and short waist, but I think this one looks fantastic!
I hope your finger feels better soon. I recently had an unfortunate incident while grating ginger.
I’m glad you threw caution to the wind in buying this swingy blazer, because I think it looks wonderful on you! And I’m sorry about your finger. Ow.
Love this outfit, Katie!
I once had a particularly malevolent run-in with a bagel. That darn thing did not want to be sliced. Seeing as how it was a whole grain bagel upon which I aimed to put garden veggie cream cheese, I agree that the vegetables are out to get us. Husband J just purchased 4 boxes of girl scout cookies, so I think I’ll be eating Samoas and Tagalongs.
Love the scarf clip as a little embellishment, and the touches of purple and red!
Hi! Love this blog, but I can’t figure out how to follow… Oh wait, there at the bottom of the comment form!

I like the pseudo-suit with mixed textures! Great use of navy.
Your Norse bracelet is fantastic.
Ooooh, I read your post on my edit this weekend and it was wonderful!! I went in search for some thrift scarves that day! I’m sorry to hear about your finger, but at least you have ice cream to make you feel better.
btw: Your outfit is so cute especially the Jackie-O style blazer.
Very cute blazer. I think that’s an awesome thrifting find.
Cute look, love all your jewellery so much, your earrings are fun and different as id your bangle and the clip is lovely!

‘Such dangerous curves today, my friend. Dangerous. Curves.
but I like carrot juice. And your swingy blazer.
And you can live with that kind of produce massacre on your conscious? Monster…
Suito! Sweeto!
Hope your finger is feeling better!
This is such a great blazer! I love the swingy shape — it’s one I’ve really struggled to wear, but you’ve inspired me to try again.
