One of the reasons I photograph so often on my balcony is the shelter it provides me from the wind. With average (and almost constant) wind speeds of ~10mph, the “breezes” around here are definitely known to mess up hair and flip up dresses (and scarves).
But as much as I might dislike how the zephyrs always mess up my hair, I love how tangible and visceral the weather is. At over a mile above sea level you feel immersed in it, as if you’ve been thrust into air and enveloped by the elements. The sun is closer, the sky is bluer, the wind is stronger, the raindrops are fatter, the thunder is louder. The stage is set for perfect days and tempests alike.
On days like today the air becomes a living thing, swirling and tangling around you. Scarves snap in the breeze and skirts billow in the bluster.
And the wind gives you insta-booty.
Like clockwork, at 6pm the heavens opened, the air smelled delicious, and everything cooled down. And then the sun set and gave me this.
Thanks again to Ashley for the gorgeous silk scarf!

The shape and volume of this outfit seems to be just made to be blown around! Simple and pretty, and I love headscarves. And that sunset! We get sunsets that look like that sometimes, and I try to enjoy them while the little voice in my head is yammering about pollution.
I aaaabsolutely adore this outfit. The purple cardigan is just gorgeous!
These are fabulous photos! I’m in love with the outfit and with the images themselves — the colors, the wind, the setting…amazing!
I love these photos. I always think of the weather as a style element and I like the movement in gives my clothes. snorted at the big booty photo.
I love how you used your scarf! I have a bunch of cheap silk scarves I have around to do the same thing!
And yes, I love this purple cardigan too! The color looks great on you.
