Katie Style – Uniform and Shoes of Love

  • Dress – thrifted
  • Cardigan – thrifted
  • Belt – thrifted
  • Scarf – thrifted
  • Shoes of Love- Tevas, from The Rocket Scientist
  • Earrings – local boutique

I haven’t photographed it before now, but this has been the official uniform of Katie’s Unemployed Summer (K.U.S., which is what I often felt like doing). Really, it’s just the summer version of this.

I’m please at the combination of black, brown, and two shades of green with nary a pattern to be seen; I wasn’t sure it would work, but strangers were stopping me in the library to tell me how cute I looked. Then the librarian chastised me for my overdue book and my smug bubble was good and popped.

Now, let’s talk shoes. I tried on, and loved, the black version of these sandals last summer, but they were too rich for my wallet. When we were shopping for new shoes for The Rocket Scientist to take with him to Germany, I found the brown version tucked away in a corner of the store. Again, too pricey, but I couldn’t bring myself to put them down. So The Rocket Scientist got them for me and now I think of them as my Shoes of Love. Every time I wear them it’s like I’m walking on The Rocket Scientist, or something like that…

  1. Your unemployment uniform puts mine to shame! I’m currently wearing Ian’s long underwear though, so maybe shame was inevitable. Still, it IS a cute outfit, and I resent the librarian on your behalf. Is it necessary to rebuke people for keeping books too long? Couldn’t she just fine you the old-fashioned way?

  2. Ooh I do like these two shades of green together! For some reason, I’m more careful about returning books on time than movies. The possible chastising from the librarian makes me more nervous than when it’s from a kid making minimum wage I guess. But still, you would think a fellow book lover would be more understanding.

  3. Shoes of Love!! Cute and comfy!

  4. Yeah, your unemployment uniform is scads classier than my three-day pajamas and slippers.

Also, I’ve been meaning to tell you…your hair is looking phenomenal lately! This newest cut/style is gorgeous!

  5. I love the pairing of the scarf and cardigan here! It looks gorgeous on you.

  6. Your unemployed uniform is better than my working for myself uniform.
