I’m always meaning to take a photo of this flower hollyhock fence when we drive down this particular country road. It is gorgeous!
The fence basically follows the property line along the side of the road, with four rows of hollyhocks, and it goes on for two field lengths of about 50-100 meters each.
S’s mom is going to try doing this along her country property line next spring. If it works out it should look gorgeous as well!

Hollyhocks are my all-time favorite. I can’t ever get them to grow successfully (they fall down a lot), but I sure do love them. This is so gorgeous – thank you for sharing!
Beautiful. Good fences make good… gardens.
Wait a week or two ’til they’re past their prime and falling over, then snip off the seed heads – near the top, sort of bulbous-shaped – and here’s the important part: SIMPLY SCATTER THE HEADS WHERE YOU WANT HOLLYHOCKS. They pretty much plant themselves, according to my mother, who loves them. Don’t “plant” them, don’t worry about fertilyzer, etc; just let them take care of business themselves.
My mother just sent me hollyhock seeds. Now I know what to do with them!
These would look lovely as a fence in a more residential setting. You’ll have to show us if you’re successful!
