We got married three times, because we’re crazy like that. Here are some pictures from Part 1, where we get all legal.
The day after The Rocket Scientist arrived from Germany, we headed down to the Registrar’s Office in Boulder to get married.
Before we could leave the house, there was a last-minute emergency with the background checks for our reception (more on that later) and my car’s “Check Engine” light came on. Almost as if the universe was trying to tell me something…
But we made it, wonky engine and all.
After the paperwork was done, we went down to Pearl Street to take some couples photographs (largely because my mum keeps asking for pictures where we, quote, look normal, unquote).
Stay tuned for Part 2, where myself and some lovely ladies end up in an uber-fancy hotel.
All photographs taken by the awesome Matt Gale of Matthew Gale Photography.

Super.
Congratulations of what looks like a FUN wedding day!!!
Here in the Netherlands you are not legally married by the church service, but rather by the Gemeente (city council ceremony) so people who want both do the Gemeente one first…
Himself and I couldn’t afford the expense of both (we saved and paid it all ourselves) but luckily you can do a Gemeente wedding in everything from complete casual to full wedding attire and I was seriously lucky in that we married in time for us to have the ceremony in the OLD Gemeentehuis before they closed it and not the ultra modern one.
This was extra special because my Oma (Grandmother) was 98 years of age at the time and got married in the same 17th Century room as I did.. .roughly 85 years before me!
Including FUN things in your day is a way to make your day totally YOURS… sometimes the fun stuff is planned and other times it just happens due to the rush of the day but making a memory is what counts.
FABULOUS photos! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more!!!
So fun! You guys are adorable! Also congratulations!!!
Also I am officially requesting a photo of Aragog from your storage unit, because seriously.
I ran out of there before photographing, but I’ll check to see if he’s there next time we go down. Four inches across, at least.
Congratulations, Katie! I’m interested to hear why you had 3 different weddings! That’s just impressive.
My fella and I will have just had 2 when all is said and done, and our first one was just 3 days before yours! But the annoying thing in Chicago (aside from the $60 marriage license) is that the license isn’t good until the day after it’s issued, meaning you can’t just go down to city hall and get married. They’ll let pretty much anyone officiate your ceremony, but you do have to sleep on it to be sure.
Congratulations! I love the pictures, especially the last one. It’s cool to see you all around Boulder, where I went to grad school & visit now and then, when I can tear myself away from Denver.
It’s where we went to grad school, too. I used to love going back to visit – hence why we got hitched the first two times there.
Three times? Wow! I thought my Hubby and I were committed getting married twice! Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!
I’m loving that you call him the Rocket Scientist… I’m getting inspired to change my Hubby’s blog name. He is also a criminal defense attorney… I’m thinking “Atticus”. I’m ashamed I didn’t think of this much earlier.
