Katie Style – In My Easter Bonnet

Shirt, Gap | Skirt, Gap | Belt, Target | Necklace, Target | Shoes, Softwalks | Jacket, Gap

My favorite Easter ensemble is still the “This is my Easter Outfit” t-shirt I got when I was 11, but this combination is running a close second. Cool and comfortable for the warm weather we’re having, but stable enough not to be blown up over my head in the gale-esque winds we’re having. Just because the Easter Bunny brought me underwear, doesn’t mean you need to see it.*

*Every year. Some people get jelly beans. I once got a Winnie the Pooh thong.

As for my title, it may have been made famous by Fred and Judy, but I learned it first from The First Easter RabbitA cartoon classic if there ever was one – it even has Santa!**

**Santa also brings me underwear.

Katie Style – Spots and Stripes

  • Shirt – thrifted
  • Blazer – Kohl’s
  • Skirt – Gap
  • Germany necklace – T.R.S.
  • Scarf – thrifted
  • Shoes – Naturalizer

Black and white always reads as “zebra” to me. Throw a leopard-print scarf into the mix, and suddenly it’s predator vs prey in an epic survival of the fittest on the Serengeti.

Rawr.

Or a cast reunion for Zoobilee Zoo.

For those interested in knowing the difference between spotted animal prints, the following visuals should help.

Cheetah: solid black, round/oval spots.

Leopard: complex pattern of clusters of black and brown spots which look like roses (called rosettes).

Lisa Frank: Awesome.

Katie Daily Style – Cherry Pickin’

  • Shirt – thrifted
  • Shorts – thrifted
  • Necklace – The Rocket Scientist
  • Sandals – Target

I wore this outfit to pick cherries in my friend’s backyard. At first I was concerned that I’d end up with more cherries than I knew what to do with (due to my mad cherry picking skillz), but the dog that kept snatching half the cherries out of my hand before I could get them into my bag solved that problem.

Later, I applied the same cherry picking talents with great success to a tub of Neapolitan ice cream from the freezer section of the grocery store. I sense a future in this fruit gathering business…

Currently reading: Shore Thing by Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi. It’s wrong how much I’m enjoying it.

Katie Daily Style – Double Bubble Rectangle

  • Shirt – la Mama
  • Skirt – Gap
  • Belt – thrifted
  • Silk scarf – thrifted
  • Beret – Urban Outfitters
  • Flats – Naturalizer
  • Jacket – Gap
  • Purse – la Mama

The other day, Audi wrote about dressing to embrace her columnar shape rather than using clothing to create an hourglass appearance. With this outfit, I’m doing the opposite. Instead of accentuating my curvy, short-waisted figure with a skirt or belt at my natural waist or a nipped-in cardigan, this combination creates a rectangle.

Add a straight-cut denim jacket and it’s like you drew me with a ruler!

Call me square (or rectangular, whatever), but I like it.

Although, chances are what I really like is the double polka dot action going on. Whoever said “less is more” was obviously not talking about polka dots. Or Dippin’ Dots. But they were talking about polka music.

P.S. Remember how I wore this scarf last time? So pretty!
